Live Earth Concert in Charleston
Posted by Chad Norman June 11th, 2007 .On 7.7.07, Live Earth will be holding concerts around the world to bring together 2 billion participants to help solve the climate crisis. The League of Conservation Voters is hosting our local event, and information is starting to trickle in. John Ramsburgh says,
The League of Conservation Voters has picked Charleston not only because of its wonderful historical character, but because, at two meters above sea level, it is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Charleston is also, not coincidentally, host to the next Democratic presidential debate on July 23, and so we see our July 7 concert as a great way to activate South Carolinians to make global warming a central topic of the nationally-televised debate. Accordingly, we are planning a broad range of activities for that day, including a climate workshop in the morning at College of Charleston, tabling at the Marion Park market, and then a concert celebration that evening at the city’s best live music venue, Music Farm (Doors open at 8 p.m.) Confirmed acts include Analog Moon, Josh Roberts, and Danielle Howle.
I’m really excited about this event, and I’d like to involve Go Green as much as possible. I’m hoping to have a presence at the event, and I’m looking into participating in some of the global interactivity that’s going on with the associated SOS campaign.
I’ll post more on this later, but mark your calendars!
