Half-Moon Outfitters Goes Green
Posted by Chad Norman June 18th, 2007 .This is the kind of local green news I like to post - even if it’s a few weeks old. Apparently Half-Moon Outfitters is building a new distribution center they hope will obtain South Carolina’s first LEED Platinum certification. A sustainable building is a great way to show off green technologies and encourage other businesses and governments in the area to follow suit. I hope they have tours!
On a related note, I just sat through a presentation by Michael Sola from The Chesapeake Bay Foundation. They were the first LEED Platinum building in the US, and are a great model for other businesses. I know they would like to think they started a trend - one I’m happy to see spreading into the Lowcountry.

Do you know any local (Charleston Co) LEED certifiers? So the person that comes and inspects a building during the different stages of the building process?
The Half Moon Outfitters Distribution center in North Charleston’s Old Vilalge is complete and in use and has been for a few months now.
Here’s a link to Half Moon’s site about the building:

Further, there was an article on ETV Radio’s “Your Day” about the Distribution Center this patst May.
The story is the fourth one in the show and unfortunately, you have to listen to the whole show from their site. Even so, it’s worth a listen.
