Park on Shem Creek Closer to Reality
Posted by Chad Norman October 10th, 2007 .
When Gregory blogged about Mount Pleasant being interested back in August, I remember thinking there is no way the town could wrestle Shem Creek’s Mason property away from condo developers. I’m still hoping I’m wrong, so the news yesterday that the property might be condemned, and therefore easier for the town to get, was encouraging (though I’m no fan of eminent domain). I’m not really sure how it all works, but it seems that if the Town Council is willing to cough up the dough, Mason and Smith might let the land go. And that means we might get a nice creekside greenspace for us, instead of expensive condos for tourists.

Ooooh, give us a pretty, public waterfront space!
