We’re always trying to bring you coverage of local environmental news, so here are three stories that caught my eye this week.

Alliance for Planet Earth Cleans up C of C Campus
College of Charleston students and faculty got out last weekend to perform trash audits around campus. The group, formally knows as the Alliance for Planet Earth, collected over 1300 pounds of recyclable material that would have otherwise gone to the landfill. I love this project, and I love the effort!

Secret Vote on Shem Creek Property
We’ve blogged about the Mason property before, and its fate is in the news again. I’d still like to see this as a public green space, but not via shady closed door politics. The Mount Pleasant Town Council should be talking to its constituents, not each other.

Isle of Palms Beach Erosion
Is this a green issue? I’ve never been sure. Climate change could be contributing to our eroding beaches, but I have a feeling it’s just the natural ebb and flow of the coastline. It still makes me wonder if we’ll be seeing a lot more of this as sea levels inch upward.
