The drop site containers need an update too. They only list newspaper, magazines and office paper as recyclable. The containers compartment at the drop sites also lists aluminum foil as recyclable too which is no longer the case in Charleston county.

Again, cereal boxes and 12-pack boxes ARE paperboard - they WILL get picked up along with all your other paper. They will not pick up cardboard.

Large package boxes I could see, but there's no reason why small boxes, like those used for cereal, shouldn't be picked-up. You're right Chad, every time I've been to the Whipple Rd. Recycling Center the bins have been overflowing.

Rick...the whole point of this post is that paperboard CAN be recycled curbside. Sorry if my writing didn't make that clear - I've made some edits that should help.

Your point is true for cardboard recycling though. I find it ridiculous that cardboard can't be picked-up curbside. When I drive to the dropsite, I often find it stuffed to the top with boxes laying in the parking lot. My neighborhood has a 78% recycling rate - seems like it would be easier for the county if they just picked it up.

Taking this material to a recycle center does not make Green sense - save $0.50 worth of material by expending several dollar worth of gas to get it there - need curb side pickup.
