"You do not drive properly and would never achieve the high mileage this hybrid can easily provide." He's right but I have started to change. Now I slowly get my Saturn Ion up to speed instead of stomping on the gas and I set cruise control right at the speed limit. Of course, I don't have an electric alternative engine nor do I collect energy for the battery when I use the brakes. And, my engine does not automatically click off at a red traffic light. He's averaging 53-54 mpg and I have increased mine up to 29-30 by changing some habits. He says he's noticed what I am doing and someday, maybe, I'll be allowed to own a hybrid.
